Blackboard
Blackboard is a commercial website used in this course/lab to assist with student registration, announcements, quizzes, discussions etc.  Though most of the information is available on Strasilla's course/lab website, it will be useful for the student to go to Blackboard to find out additional info about the course/lab, obtain the latest announcements,  assignments and quizzes.  Most quizzes will be quizzes to assess your understanding of the course/lab.  Some quizzes will be taken in class/lab; others may be taken at home.

Some hints before you go to Blackboard:

Students registered in EE124LT8, EE124LT14 or EE175:

Each student in EE124LT8, EE124LT14 or EE175 is already pre-registered by the instructor.  When you get to the Blackboard Web, look for:   My Blackboard in the top line to the right.  Click that and you will get to the login page. Your login name is your last name, then underline, then your first name (no spaces in between!).   For example if your name is Fred Smith, then your login name would be smith_fred. Your instructor will give you your password.

If your account name was used already, then the instructor will enter a different name.  Check with your instructor in that case.  This is due to the fact that "blackboard" has a name account system, where all over the world each account name is unique.  At first login, blackboard will ask you for all kinds of info.  Use your judgement in filling out this info.  Most likely "blackboard" will use this info for marketing purposes.  However, the following info should be accurate: your email, your place of employment and position.  If you are not employed simply type in "undergraduate" or "graduate" student.  I understand that blackboard will not bombard you with commercial email offerings as a result of this freeby.  If this is not true, then let me know and I will complain or discontinue their service.  You may change your password if you wish.  But if you do, and forget your password, then you are on your own.  Your instructor does not wish to be burdened by re-establishing your account.

Guests:

If you are not registered in EE124LT8, EE124LT14 or EE175, you still have access to blackboard using a guest account.  I signed up for the following guest account.  Account name: guest  ;  password: guest .   All info is already filled out for you.  So simply go ahead and explore.  Please, please don't change the password.  If you do, this access will be blocked for others.  Then I simply will remove this guest account. From time to time, in particular when I have entered a new quiz and I don't wish to have the guest getting a preview of that quiz, I will block this access to "blackboard" anyhow.
