General Advising
Academic advising in the Engineering Student Success Center will be conducted as follows: the first three weeks of classes of every semester will be for walk-ins only.
After the first three weeks students can make either a 30-minute appointment by calling the ESSC front desk (408-924-3990) or have a quick question answered by whomever is on duty that day for walk-ins.

- Procedure Questions (“How do I…?”)
- New Students Not Registered for Classes
- Students Needing Assistance Adding or Dropping Classes

- GE Checklists (new or revised)
- Transfer Credit Evaluations
- Graduation Planning / Graduation GE Checklists / Signatures
- Probation / DQ / Reinstatement Information or Advising
- Petitions
- Degree Progress Discrepancy Reports
- Prospective First-Year and Transfer Students
- Former Students Returning
- Change of Major Questions
- Multi-Semester Planning
- GPA Calculation
- Summer School Planning / Questions
- EO 665 – Remedial
In order to see an advisor as a walk-in or for a scheduled appointment, you must come prepared with the following information:
- Your GE Checklist (if one has already been created for you)
- A copy of your Degree Progress Report from your MySJSU home page (if you’re a current SJSU student)
- A copy of your unofficial transcripts (SJSU, community college, and/or other university).
