Purpose of Course

This course is designed to introduce the student to the functions of various departments in a manufacturing organization with particular emphasis on how departments are involved and interrelated with respect to the entire life cycle of a product. This course also compares the roles, functions, procedures, and systems of each department under a traditional manufacturing/design organizational structure to those expected under an integrated manufacturing (design for manufacturability/concurrent engineering) organizational structure. Tech 101 is divided into five instructional units each with its associated objectives. Each unit has associated assignments/activities designed to augment those objectives
