Technology, University of Northern Iowa, 1981 Certified Manufacturing Technologist, Society of Manufacturing Engineers Certified Senior Industrial Technologist, National Association of Industrial Technology Dr. Bates is chair and professor in the Department of Aviation and Technology, and specializes in Industrial Materials Technology and in Computer-Integrated Manufacturing. He has worked in industry (Applied Materials, 2000 and 2001, and Chamberlain Manufacturing Corp., 1981) as an advanced manufacturing methods engineer, and is the owner of Teknos Computer Services, providing computing and networking consulting to business and industry in the Monterey and Santa Clara Valley areas, providing computer network design and installation, computer training, management, and development. Dr. Bates also ran a university bus service, and was an executive chef, in the San Diego area. Seth is currently President of CITEA and CITEA Foundation and serves as EList editor and web site manager for CITEA (www.citea.org). He also has been conference coordinator for the 1988 NAIT National Convention, and the 2003 and 2005 CITEA Conferences, which were held at San Jose State University. Awards
