GOALS To gain :
(a) an understanding of the basic principles involved in modern flight vehicle propulsion systems
(b) basic skills for analyzing and designing such systems
CONTENT: Basic principles of propulsion; thrust and efficiency equations for propellers, jets, and rockets.
Jet engines: ramjets, scramjets, turbojets, turbofans, turboprops, propfans and other advanced concepts.
Rockets; multistaging. Advanced space propulsion concepts.
PREREQUISITES: ME 111 (Fluid Mechanics), ME 113 (Thermodynamics)
