2008-2009 Graduate Equity Fellowship Awards

The purpose of the Graduate Equity Fellowship Program is to encourage and assist students in their pursuit and completion of a Master's degree and careers in post-secondary education. This fellowship is only available to California resident graduate students with financial need. Students must demonstrate a minimum financial need of $1,000. In order to find out if they are eligible to receive finanical aid, a student must complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) applicaiton form and submit it to the Finaical Aid Office. A copy of the FAFSA form must be attached to the Graduate Equity Fellowhsip Program application form. http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

Under the Graduate Fellowship Program, awards of up to $3,000 may be made to graduate students admitted and enrolled in a Master's degree program at San Jose State University for the 2008-2009 academic year. (Note: Credential only candidates are not elegible.) Students must be enrolled in both academic terms and complete a minimum of six units in each terms. These 12 units must appear on the Master's candidacy for for award of degree.

Applications are available in Graduate Studies & Research in the Administration Building, Room 223B. The applications will be reviewed by the graduate Fellowship Program Committee, and eligibility will be assessed on the basis of financial need, academic standing and career goals. The completed applications are due in Graduate Studies & Research no later than Monday, June 23, 2008 at 4:30 pm. Any applications with missing documentation will not be considered by the committee. Fellowship awards will be announced by Monday, August 4, 2008 and are subject to funding.
