Professor and Chair (beginning June 2001), Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering, San Jose State University

Acting Chair: Computer, Information, and Systems Engineering Department, San Jose State University. Responsible for Academic Department of more than 1500 undergraduate and graduate students, 17 full time and 20 part time faculty consisting of three academic programs: Computer Engineering, Industrial & Systems Engineering, and General Engineering (including the Software and Information Engineering program option).

1986 - Present

Professor, Industrial and Systems Engineering Program and Professor of Human Factors/Ergonomics, San Jose State University. Teaching in the following areas: human factors engineering, human factors experiments, usability testing, work measurement, systems simulation, quality control, engineering economics, and statistics. Lab Director: Human Factors Lab, Simulation Lab, Work Measurement Lab.

1992 - Present

Founder and Director, Silicon Valley Ergonomics Institute, San Jose State University. Founded (in 1992) and first Director of this interdisciplinary effort to merge University, Industry, and rehabilitative organizations through an SJSU institute. Produced ErgoCon'95, the first Silicon Valley Ergonomics Conference and Exposition that attracted over 400 participants. Also produced ErgoCon'96, ErgoCon'97, and ErgoCon'98. Currently producing ErgoCon'99, for June, 1999. Currently planning ErgoCon2000 for June, 2000.

1992 - 1999

Founder and Director Interdisciplinary Studies Master's Degree Program in Human Factors/Ergonomics with faculty from the departments of Psychology, Human Performance, and Industrial Design (over 70 students are currently pursuing this new degree at SJSU).

1982 - Present

Principal, LEF and Associates. Simulation studies, organizational analysis, microcomputer information system design, methods improvement and work measurement studies, productivity information systems implementation, marketing of information systems. see attached consulting activity list.

1975 - 1982

Senior Vice President, Medicus Systems Corporation and Whittaker-Medicus. Management of contract industrial engineering programs, design and development of a workload measurement for nursing personnel, directed departmental productivity improvement projects, Director Western Region. Worked with over 50 corporate clients across the country.
Senior Vice President, Spectra Medical Systems (a Medicus subsidiary). Responsible for MIS implementations at nine client sites. Directed staff of over 30 professionals.

1971 - 1975

Associate Professor, Department of Industrial Engineering, University of Missouri-Columbia. Taught graduate and undergraduate courses in work measurement, human factors, operations research. Principal Investigator and project director for two federal grants.
