Dr. Jinny Rhee joined the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department
at San Jose State University in 2002. She teaches courses in the thermal and
fluid sciences area of mechanical engineering as well as engineering
mathematics and senior design project. Her interests include renewable
energy, thermal management, and multidisciplinary education for engineers and all students.
She is the Director
of the newly established Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Laboratory at SJSU. Furthermore, Dr. Rhee
is the faculty advisor for the SJSU student chapter of IEEE-CPMT (Institute for Electrical Engineering and
Electronics - Components, Packaging, and Manufacturing Technologies).
Dr. Rhee recently was awarded a $150K grant from the National Science Foundation to pilot a co-instruction model for multidisciplinary senior projects in sustainability (1/30/10-6/30/2013). Her co-awardees include Dr. David Parent (Electrical Engineering), Dr. Anu Basu (Business), Dr. Leslie Speer (Industrial Design), and Dr. Larry Gerston (Political Science). Our exciting senior project will be the design, build, and showcase of a Zero-Emissions house during the academic year of 2010-2011. We plan to have a huge multidisciplinary student team, and it will be co-advised by the entire faculty team. Dr. Rhee received her B.S. (1989), M.S. (1990), and Ph.D.
(1995) degrees, all in Mechanical Engineering, from Stanford University.
