The Synaptics' Usability Team is chartered with making Synaptics' products more intuitive and easy to use. This includes observing user behavior, quantifying input device performance, and developing design guidelines based upon qualitative and quantitative usability research. Synaptics' Usability Research Assistant will work on key PC, Mobile, and MP3 projects and will gain hands-on experience with Human Factors and HCI issues.

Responsibilities include:

- Design and moderate Human Factors and task-based Usability tests
- Generate reports summarizing quantitative and qualitative data
- Generalize findings into applicable design guidelines for future products

The ideal candidate will possess:

- Familiarity with usability issues and principles (Fitts' Law is a plus!)
- Basic research, experimental design,and quantitative analysis experience
- Some graphical prototyping knowledge (Photoshop, Flash, HTML)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Eagerness to learn new skills and independently lead projects to completion


The Usability Research Assistant position is available immediately and is a nine month student position. Hours are flexible and will range between 10 - 20 hours per week.
