SUMMARY OF TRIP

Shanghai is set in a beautiful location, with the Huang-Pu River running through the city. Along with the contemporary architecture and city planning, Shanghai has become a distinguished place in Asia. It is "a shining example of China as the 'next great economy.' Shanghai's skyscrapers are unimaginably tall. The whole district of Pudong, filled with these skyscrapers, was developed in less than twelve years. If the government can maintain its course, China will be the next big economic powerhouse, if not so already," (Smyth, Gerald). All of the GTI scholars agreed that Shanghai is similar to urban areas like New York, Las Vegas, and San Francisco.
