Minimum Hardware Requirements:

For Apples:

802.11g wireless card ("Airport extreme")
USB 2.0
Virtual PC/Windows available (Mac OS is already a variant of UNIX)

Minimal Software Requirements:

Microsoft Office. (Microsoft Office software is available at a special purchase price arranged by the Chancellor's Office. Call the Spartan Bookstore for details (408-924-1800.)

Please check with the professor to determine the software requirements for each class.

For your convenience, the Computer Science and Computer Engineering Departments have created a disk image that includes a dual-boot Windows XP and Fedora Linux including many tools such as, gcc, JDK, etc.

The image is currently available from Dell computers and sold through Spartan Bookstore, http://www.spartanshops.com/bookstore/BTS/hardware.html. You are not required to purchase this image. It is provided for your convenience.

The Department of Computer Engineering takes sole responsibility for the disk image; the Computer Engineering Department will provide support for those who need it with regard to the furnished image. However, we will not install the image on a system for you; the Computer Engineering Department will provide support for computers already furnished with this image and only for issues directly related to the image.
