To graduate with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering requires 135 semester units. The Curriculum covers fundamental theory and practice in pertinent technical areas. The course work focuses on analytical and design aspects and includes legal, business and personnel problems in construction management. A senior elective sequence of four courses permits a limited amount of specialization in:

  • Construction Engineering
  • Environmental Engineering
  • Geotechnical Engineering
  • Structural Engineering
  • Transportation Engineering
  • Water Resource Engineering

During your first two academic years you will…

  • Develop math and science skills used in upper division civil engineering courses.
  • Take general education classes in English composition, humanities and social science.
  • Get a taste of engineering with surveying, statics, and drafting classes using state-of-the-art computer-aided design laboratories.

Third year students…

  • Explore civil engineering in more depth and begin to think about areas of specialization.
  • Take courses that include laboratory work to supplement theory with hands-on experience.

As a senior you will…

  • Take courses in the specialty of your choice.
  • Complete an overview of civil engineering
  • Fulfill an internship in a working civil engineering office.
