Meeting overview

The purpose of the meeting was to review the current state of the chapter, plan for the next meeting, and discuss potential changes to the presentation schedule and method. The following issues were discussed at the meeting:

  • Current chapter membership has grown to about 30 members.
  • The Bay area region from Santa Cruz to Berkeley contains about 100 national HFES members. Most students are from the San Jose State University program.
  • Additional people who may be interested in BACHFES presentation topics include members of the Systems Safety Society, and the Ergonomics Roundtable.
  • Taxes for BACHFES will be dealt with through the national organization.
  • The next meeting needs to be planned outside of the week of April 5-10 due to the ACM SIGCHI conference.
  • Given our low meeting attendance (under 10 participants present), should BACHFES change its presentation schedule, method, or venue?
  • Future meetings and potential speakers.

Summary of decisions

No chapter-level decisions were made at the meeting, although participants agreed that the April meeting should be re-scheduled to avoid conflict with the ACM SIGCHI conference. The next BACHFES meeting is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, April 16.

Next meeting

The next chapter meeting is planned for Wednesday, April 16, 2003. For more details, please see the calendar.
