The Industrial Technology programs have completed a two year project to update and revise the curricula.  The new curriculum will be offered beginning in Fall of 2009, and students in the programs will have the option to change to the newer curriculum.  The Manufacturing Systems concentration is moving firmly toward integrating Green and Sustainable techniques and knowledge in most courses.  This change is strongly supported by area industry who need new graduates to help with the transition to a more Green and Sustainable approach to manufacturing.  The Electronics and Computer Technology program will become Computer Electronics and Network Technology (CENT) and will include new courses exploring networking and wireless communications, which reflects trends in the industry and in hiring.
Seth Bates and Kenneth Youssefi The Department's Product Design and Manufacturing curriculum is receiving a transformation.  The new program will emphasize Green Product Design and will include more hands-on practice with processes for manufacturing innovative products.  The courses affected are Tech 40 and Tech 140.
Patricia Backer Dr. Backer is the Principal Investigator for the SJSU/HP Mobility Project. The HP Mobility/Web Services Project at SJSU aims to transform the learning environment at SJSU through a cross-disciplinary, problem-based learning (PBL) instructional initiative using mobile technologies. This initiative brings together faculty and upper division students from the Colleges of Engineering and Business to collaborate in cross-functional, entrepreneurial teams to develop mobile computing applications for clients from business or non-profit organizations in our local community.  The complete web site for this project is located at http://hp.sjsu.edu
