BS in Aviation, Option in Maintenance Management

The Maintenance Management option is a 2+2 program for students from local community colleges. A community college student should be able to transfer almost all of their aviation maintenance courses and complete their BS degree requirements at SJSU in Maintenance Management.

Graduates of the BS in Aviation with an option in Maintenance Management will be able to:

  1. Interpret and analyze financial statements and control concepts

  2. Develop and use accounting and budgetary data to assist management in decision making and control activities

  3. Design, function, and operate aircraft systems

  4. Apply techniques to effectively and efficiently manage of supply chains

  5. Understand the nature and sources of law and legal problems encountered by managers

  6. Demonstrate an understanding of airframe structures including wood and sheet metal structures.

  7. Diagnose, trouble-shoot, and repair  powerplant systems and components

  8. Diagnose, trouble-shoot, and repair airframe systems and components

  9. Apply engine theory and maintenance techniques to reciprocating and turbine engine systems

  10. Describe aircraft communication systems including aircraft antennas, voice systems, satellite, UHF, VHF

  11. Use safety protocols appropriate to working with hazardous chemicals.

  12. Apply principles of lean management to the aviation maintenance field

  13. Utilize manual and computer-numerical controlled machine tools

  • City College of San Francisco: Aircraft Maintenance Technology

  • Gavilan College: Aviation Maintenance Technology
