About the Department

The Department of Aviation and Technology is the oldest and largest provider of Industrial Technology and Aviation degrees on the West Coast.  Our Technology programs are as old as SJSU itself, now in its 150th year of providing higher education to the people of this state and the world.  Our programs include a BS (bachelor of science) degree in Industrial Technology with two concentrations, a BS degree in Aviation with four options, and a Master of Science degree in Quality Assurance.  Information on our programs and concentrations, as well as transfer and entry information, is available from our main web page (link here).  To find out how we can help you achieve your educational goals, visit our main web page or email us here:  avtech@sjsu.edu

This Website is one way of communicating to the world who we are and what we are about. This site changes frequently, so come back for upcoming events and announcements.  The Department of Aviation and Technology, located in the College of Engineering at San Jose State University, is at the forefront of technological change and innovation in the Silicon Valley. The Department offers undergraduate bachelor of science degrees in Aviation and in Industrial Technology and a graduate degree in Quality Assurance.

We have two locations; one is located on SJSU's main campus in the Industrial Studies building at the corner of 9th and San Fernando Streets in San Jose - the department office is Industrial Studies 111.  Our other location is the aviation facility located off-campus at 1120 Coleman Avenue. You can click on the link below ('Getting to...") to get maps to the main campus or to our aviation facility.   Please note that many of the Aviation classes are taught on the main SJSU campus and that the Aviation facility is not in use during some days.

Success of our programs

The Department of Aviation and Technology has a very high success rate, placing over 90% of its graduates in careers directly related to their major program of study.
Salaries earned by our graduates are comparable to those earned by business and engineering graduates.
