ISE 164-Human Computer Interaction-Home
Goal
The course will provide a theoretical and practical structure for the
design, implementation and evaluation of human-computer interaction processes.
It will examine theory and techniques to support graphical user interfaces,
command input devices. It will introduce the concept of user-centered
design and discuss methods for human computer interaction (HCI) evaluation
and assessment.
The course will be divided into three components. The first will address human capabilities and limitations in interaction with computer systems. The second will human computer interaction in information retrieval and use in the domain of work. The third part of the course will explore extended and advanced human computer interface concepts, including Human Computer Interface evaluation techniques will be explored throughout the course and a summary of those will be provided in the final class meetings
Format
One 140-minute Lecture per week, Class Discussion, Individual
Project and Text Readings provided of Research Articles and Primary Citations.
Outcomes:
In order to successfully complete the course the student shall
demonstrate knowledge of:
1) User Requirements in HCI
2) Theories of perceptual and Cognitive organization in HCI
3) Task and Functional Analysis techniques for Use-Centered Design
4) User Interface Evaluation Techniques

Requirements |
| - Classroom contact will occur in one 2.45 hours -lecture/discussion each week. There will be projects/analysis of human computer interface techniques. There will be homework based on analyses and observation as focused by me course content Specific systems analysis and design requirements will be provided. Students are expected to have read the assigned materials prior to class. |
