India Global Technology Initiative Donor Dinner

Global communities are the new neighborhoods of the 21st century, and if you want to keep up with your neighbors it’s best that you do some traveling either by getting on the internet or, better yet, a plane.

This is exactly what 25 SJSU engineering students did in January 2008 for the college’s Global Technology Initiative (GTI). Along with three deans and two faculty members, the 25 student scholars visited Chennai, Bangalore, and Delhi over a period of almost two weeks. On Tuesday, April 8, the Davidson College of Engineering hosted a donor recognition dinner for the GTI sponsors, who made the program possible through their generous support.

At the dinner, the student scholars talked about their trip to India, both its educational and personal impact on their lives; all of the deans emphasized how much they learned in the global classroom and how their learning experience was heightened by the study tour; and the donors and guests shared their reasons why investing in GTI is vitally important.

Everyone agreed that the study tour gave them an insightful perspective on a very ancient and rich culture that is now a young economic powerhouse.
