Alumnus Don R. Beall (’60, metallurgical engineering) has been a long-time supporter of San José State and the Davidson College of Engineering. Don knows firsthand the true value of engineering and science education in helping engineers meet the challenges of the 21st Century. This week, the university announced that the $4 million commitment by the Beall family is the lead gift in its comprehensive fundraising campaign. This gift created the university’s first-ever endowed deanship, the Don Beall Dean of Engineering, and Dean Belle Wei is the first recipient. In 2008, SJSU recognized Don’s commitment to education and the university by presenting him with its highest honor, the Tower Award.
