More than 700 students prepare for CoE’s graduation ceremony Friday, May 25

There’s a special aura of anticipation throughout the Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering right now as students have finished spring semester assignments and are taking their finals. For more than 700 undergrad and grad students, there’s more – the moment they’ve dreamed about – the annual Spring Graduation Recognition Ceremony, Friday, May 25, at 3 p.m., in the SJSU Event Center.

Congrats to our grads

Dean Belle Wei and department chairs will present the diplomas and congratulate each grad. These outstanding graduates represent all eight of the college’s academic departments: aviation and technology; biomedical, chemical and materials engineering; civil and environmental engineering; computer engineering; electrical engineering; general engineering; industrial and systems engineering, and mechanical and aerospace engineering.

CoE’s own – Killol Acharya, mechanical engineering major and one of two SJSU 2012 Outstanding Seniors, will speak during the ceremony. Killol, raised in southern India, is committed to social responsibility and a culture of service. He will share his thoughts on sustainable engineering, giving back to the community, and how engineering skills contribute to a better world.

Grads and their families will celebrate the happy occasion with faculty, administrators and staff at a reception in the college lobby after the ceremony.

Engineering grads are encouraged to join their peers – San Jose State University’s class of 2012 – and participate in the university’s Commencement Ceremony, Saturday, May 26, in Spartan Stadium.
