The Davidson College of Engineering hosted its annual Awards Banquet honoring distinguished alumni and outstanding faculty, students, and staff for 2008. Over 500 people attended the Awards Banquet at the Fairmont San Jose on Wednesday, April 30, filling the Imperial Ballroom.

San José State's Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering has established the Newnan Brothers Excellence in Teaching Endowment to recognize and honor outstanding achievement in teaching by faculty members. The endowment was made possible by a $1 million gift from Don Newnan and his late brother Dean Newnan, alumni and former faculty members of the Davidson College of Engineering.

The recipient of the prestigious 2008 Tower Award is Mr. Donald Beall, alumnus of the SJSU College of Engineering (Metallurgical 1960).

On Tuesday, April 8, the Davidson College of Engineering hosted a donor recognition dinner for the GTI sponsors, who made the program possible through their generous support.
